Randstad in partnership with a leading biotechnology company located in Huxley, Iowa is now hiring for Seed Technicians. As the selected candidate, you will work with our client in the development of technology that enables farmers to grow more crops by applying biotechnology, genomics and molecular breeding technology to herbicides and seeds.

We are seeking highly motivated and self-driven individuals to successfully assist with implementing all aspects of field and lab operations. This position requires various levels of field and seed lab work. You will work closely with team leaders and will contribute to planting, critical data collection, evaluation and application of field treatments, warehouse inventory/distribution, harvesting, and seed counting and packaging. You must be 100% committed to promoting safe work practices and ability to work extended hours when needed. Physical labor components include; heavy lifting, bending, walking, and under adverse weather conditions (heat, humidity, cold).


- Utilization of research equipment such as planters, combines, GPS/GIS data and hand held computers for data collection

- Operate and maintain research equipment

- Manage different field testing operations such as plot maintenance, agronomic notes, planting, and harvest.

- Assist in computer related activities and provide support for day-to-day testing activities such as operation of shelling systems, seed counters, and seed packaging

- Work closely with research teams to successfully maintain Quality Management Standards

Working hours: 40 hours/week, business day schedule



--Ability to work full time including overtime and weekend activities

--Detail-oriented with excellent time management, organizational and problem solving skills

--Ability to operate seed processing equipment

--Knowledge and ability to use handheld PC and/or iOS devices

--Valid driver's license in good standing

--Class B CDL License

--Experience with field data collection in small plot trials

--Ability to operate, troubleshoot problems, and maintain seed/field equipment

--Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices

--Familiarity with seed production practices

--Farm equipment operation, maintenance and repair

--Ability to obtain pesticide applicators license
