Marketer Services IT is looking for a talented software designer/developer (preferably with Java experience) to join our team and help deliver new and enhanced systems that support the life cycle of Financial Professionals at Principal (over 150,000 of them!). You will be part of a passionate group of fellow scrummers and will work together to support, maintain, and deliver new features to our software ecosystem. As a team, you will select what you work on in 10 week Program Increments, providing the opportunity to explore all aspects of our business.

Our IT teams work very closely with our business partners in a SAFe Program consisting of 15 scrum teams located in our Home Office in Des Moines, Iowa and India. Work in Marketer Services IT is primarily focused on developing and/or enhancing home grown applications as well as integrating and configuring third-party vendor applications.

+ 2+ years of experience in system/software engineering (Java highly preferred)

+ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math related field or equivalent work experience (6 years of experience equates to an Associate's degree when defining "equivalent work experience")

Additional preferred technical experience (any experience would be a plus):

+ Experience with agile (for example TDD, CI, pair programming, self-organizing teams, etc.)

+ Web Framework experience (Spring MVC, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS)

+ Experience with development, build and deployment tooling (e.g. Maven, Git, Eclipse and/or IntelliJ IDE, Jenkins)

+ Experience with continuous integration practices, TDD, and automated testing (e.g. jUnit, Cucumber)

+ Experience with relational databases and SQL

+ Exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g MongoDB)

+ Experience with web services (e.g. SOAP, REST)

+ Familiar with Secure Software development concept/practices
